InferCabulary at MassCue

Beth and Stephanie on their way to MassCue

In October, Beth headed up to Boston with Stephanie McKew, a learning specialist at The Boys Latin School of Maryland.  We were so excited to share about how she uses InferCabulary in her language arts classroom, and learn from the 2,000+ attendees at the annual MassCUE (Massachusetts Computer-Using Educators) conference. What a blast meeting folks from the classroom (public and independent), from district-level, and vendors (including my favorite new language-therapy tool: www.storyboardthat.com.)

Stephanie made sure to get on the right foot with participants in our presentation, by bringing a “peace offering” from Baltimore—Berger cookies and Crab Chips–we were, in fact, invading their territory, as the conference was held in Gillette Stadium!  With small classes occurring in every room of the stadium, educators had lots of options to choose from. Our class had mostly classroom language arts instructors seeking new ways of teaching vocabulary to students.  Class participants were put through the paces, using InferCabulary to experience first-hand the semantic reasoning process. They learned the words: Indefatigable, succor and punctilious, and shared their enthusiasm for trying InferCabulary out with their students.

In November we headed to Atlanta, Georgia for the International Dyslexia Association conference and we’ll share that with you next week!
